Announcing the 2015 Great Guatemalan Challenge, an eight-day backpacking trip (Jan. 11-18, 2015) in the highlands of Guatemala for NU faculty, staff, alumni, and graduate students.  Led by Dr. Joseph Little of the English department, in conjunction with the office of continuing education, the Challenge will involve hiking an active volcano, exploring Spanish and Mayan villages, sleeping in backpacker hostels and mountain lodges, and coming together as a group to navigate the challenges of budget backpacking in a foreign country.  Along the way, participants will meet with community leaders devoted to alleviating poverty in some of Guatemala¹s poorest communities.
