Social Determinants of Health and Childhood Obesity
Clinic to Community Linkages

Stephen Cook, M.D., M.P.H. Niagara University Class of 1992
Associate Professor of Pediatrics, University of Rochester Medical Center

Dr. Cook will discuss how the identification of social determinants of health have evolved, and how they impact the health of children and families, with particular emphasis on childhood obesity. He will present innovative models for screening and linking populations in need of assistance through a collaboration with healthcare providers, as illustrated though his work in identifying, preventing, and managing childhood obesity.

The John J. Hughes ’67 M.D. Endowed Lectureship recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the health sciences or to healthcare. The lecture provides an academic forum for the university community, area healthcare professionals, and members of the general public to address topics of importance in contemporary healthcare.
