For the last several weeks, there has been information in the Daily Post about the availability of the Diversity Committee’s 2016 grants:

If you would like to learn more about these grants, how to apply, as well as what the 2015 grant recipients accomplished with their grants, please attend the Diversity Committee’s “Diversity Grant Showcase” on Wednesday, March 9, 2016,, from 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. in the Gallagher Center multi-purpose room. A light lunch will be available.
Our presenters will include:
• Dr. Dennis Garland and Ms. Kelly Engert: “Peer Mentorship Program for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)”
• Dr. Abigail Levin: Attendance at the “The White Privilege Conference” last summer to develop the NUB 102 diversity curriculum that was implemented Fall 2015.
• Dr. Melanie S. MacNeil: “Diversity in Healthcare: NURS 470, Leadership in Nursing and Health”
• Dr. Shannon Risk: “New Ways of Looking at African American Women’s History”
The main objective of the Focus on Diversity Grants is to support the inclusion of new diversity content in or enhance the diversity content of a class (across the curriculum); or the initiation and promotion of any diversity-focused activities/dialog outside of the classroom through various types of programming (presentations, guest speakers, faculty/student panels, etc.) that fosters intellectual development, expanded cultural awareness, and understanding. . Both full and part-time faculty as well as staff may apply for a Focus on Diversity Grant.
The main objective of the Universal Design of Instruction (UDI) Grants is to provide faculty with resources to enable them to design their instruction using the principles of UDI to enhance the teaching and learning of students with different backgrounds, learning styles, abilities, and disabilities.
