Sophomore Sara Anderson Repeats As Susan B. Anthony Writing Award Winner
Sophomore Sara Anderson became the first two-time winner of Niagara University’s Susan B. Anthony Writing Award during a celebration held Wednesday night in Bisgrove Hall.
Anderson’s paper, Diversification of the Literary Canon, argues that the Western literary canon is too limited. She contends that expanding the literary canon to include works by women and non-white writers will provide a more universal view of human experiences.
For her piece, Anderson once again took the top prize in the annual writing contest – now in its 16thyear – named after Anthony, the famous women’s rights reformer.
The contest is facilitated by NU’s department of women’s studies.
