Scholarship Established In Memory Of Two In NU’s Mental Health Counseling Program
The Rev. Michael T. Mazurchuk, C.M., and Dr. Morgan C. Brooks made significant contributions to Niagara University’s clinical mental health counseling program. Father Mazurchuk, a student, was a skilled clinician who was quick to befriend everyone he met. Dr. Brooks, a professor, was an innovative educator who fostered deep connections with her students. Tragically, both died too young.
To keep their memories alive for future students, associate professor of counseling Shannon Hodges established a scholarship in their names. The royalties from three of his books will go toward the scholarship fund, and this fall, he is running the Mighty Niagara half marathon to raise money for the project. “This is my way of helping to transform pain and sorrow and death into something positive for Niagara and its students,” he says.
The Rev. Michael T. Mazurchuk, C.M., ’80 and Morgan C. Brooks, Ph.D. Memorial Scholarship will fund tuition for graduate students and graduate student professional development in the College of Education’s clinical mental health counseling program.
