NUOP Students Hold Poster Presentation
On July 29, 2014, the freshmen participating in the Niagara University Opportunity Program presented posters showcasing research they conducted this summer on Hurricane Katrina.
The poster projects were inspired by the students’ reading of Zeitoun, a nonfiction book that tells the story of Abdulrahman Zeitoun, a Syrian-American who traveled the flooded streets of New Orleans to help displaced residents in the days following the storm.
Several members of the university community perused the students’ displays between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
This Thursday, NUOP students will join the Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., president of Niagara University, for brunch to celebrate their completion of a five-week summer course designed to integrate them into college life, introduce them to college coursework and reading, writing and study skills, and promote personal growth.
