Faculty Development Tip of the Week: Incentivize Using Academic Support Services
Now that midterms are upon us, students have a clearer picture of how they are doing in your class. Though students may be aware of the great academic support services available, they may be too shy or unsure of how to take advantage of them. Consider offering an incentive to students for making use of things like the Writing Center or Drop-In Tutoring offered by Niagara University’s Academic Success Center. For example, students can book Writing Center appointments through MyNU. A Writing Center tutor will help your student revise his or her course paper and provide documentation of this one-on-one meeting. Offering incentives like bonus points will improve the quality of work you receive and encourage students to make use of these excellent academic resources.
