The Center for Mindful Practice at Niagara University is launching a website that will feature free Mindfulness and Mindful Movement classes.  Each week we will feature a new instructor and a new class in Mindfulness/Meditation, Qigong. Tai Chi, and Yoga.

Brief Bio

For over 28 years, Sarah Haykel has dedicated herself to personal growth, healing and development.  As an artist, certified Professional Life Coach, certified yoga instructor and teacher, Haykel works with children, adults and seniors to heal from insecurity and experience the joy of wholeness through mind – body – spirit techniques like mindfulness meditation, yoga, free form body movement, partner dancing, and life coaching. Haykel founded Salsa for the Soul in 2008, a dance company whose goal is to promote healthy, harmonious relationships through Latin partner dancing guided by a foundation in inclusivity, respectful relationships, fun and cultural education and celebration.

As a visual artist, Haykel creates ceramic wall hangings, thrown pottery and painted murals that inspire the viewer with scenes from nature and empowering affirmations. Brief Bio

Nick Loffree teaches Bioenergetics health practices – Using Qigong, biohacking, functional training, and dietary therapy to bring people to their highest potential. Nick started on this path while healing from paranoid psychosis and chronic skin and gut disease that began in adolescence. He now helps thousands of people around the world to achieve optimal health through his videos, coaching, workshops, and programs. Brief Bio

John Platt has been learning and teaching various Chinese Arts since 1966. In 1991 he began an intense study of Tai Chi Chuan under various teachers, including Shifu Jiang Jian-Ye, and a study of Qigong from Masters Lee Holden and Dr. Yang Jwing Ming. He holds Level IV Teacher Certification from the Santa Cruz Center under Master Lee Holden and a Level III Advanced Instructor Certification from the National Qigong Association.  John has taught numerous Qigong programs at the Kripalu Institute in Massachusetts and has worked with the Weight Watchers Organization, teaching Qigong to clients in various cities throughout the country. He is the author of The Five Element Orchard – QiGong Practices for Harvesting Energy from Trees. John currently teaches Qigong and Tai Chi with his wife, Mary, throughout the Hudson Valley and internationally on Zoom.

Brief Bio

Mary Rachel Platt has been practicing meditation and yoga since 1971. She is a nationally certified yoga instructor (E-RYT-500), certified Yoga Therapist (PYT 500) in Integrative Yoga Therapy, and a a nationally certified Qigong instructor. A professional storyteller since 1989, Mary often uses folk tales and myths to enhance her teaching, especially in her work with children and adolescents. She co-taught at Kripalu Institute with her husband, John Platt.  She is the co-author of The Five Element Orchard: QiGong Techniques for Harvesting Energy from Trees. Mary teaches yoga and QiGong in the Hudson Valley and internationally via Zoom.
