Professor Mary McCourt Honored by the American Chemical Society

Dr. Mary McCourt, Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics, was selected to receive the Jacob F. Schoellkopf Medal “in recognition of her pioneering contributions to the development of drug delivery methods for the treatment of breast cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease, and for her outstanding dedication to teaching and mentoring.”

The award ceremony, organized by the Western New York section of the American Chemical Society, took place on April 12, 2022 and was attended by executive officers of the ACS, past medal recipients, several Niagara University officials, family members, as well as many of her past and present research students and colleagues.

Dr. McCourt’s research focuses on the development of her lipid based Cholestosome™ technology; she has, at present, eleven issued and pending patents and ten under Active Search and Examination. Dr. McCourt has over 90 presentations and conference papers, most of them with undergraduate students. Congratulations, Dr. McCourt!
