Electrical Inspections
Every year, Ferguson Electric systematically inspects the electrical systems on the NU campus. While some of the work can be completed while the campus is operational, there are times that require building shutdowns.
During the shutdowns, all fire alarms, door access control, IT systems/networks and HVAC control systems will be inoperable and these buildings will be closed during that time period. Facility Services staff and Ferguson Electric will inspect all buildings for operational use after the shutdowns are complete.
Please note the following scheduled electrical shutdowns on the Lewiston campus for the week of May 20:
Wednesday, May 22, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.: Kiernan, Dunleavy and Butler will not have power.
Thursday, May 23, 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.: St. Vincent Hall (Alumni Chapel only)
Thursday, May 23, all day, beginning at 7:30 a.m.: Clet Hall (including Dining Commons/kitchen) will not have power from 7:30 a.m. Thursday until Friday afternoon, May 24, for electrical feeder repairs.
Friday, May 24, 2024 – all electricity to the entire campus will be shut down as requested by National Grid in coordination with Ferguson Electric for testing and inspecting the primary electrical service to campus.
Dan McMann has already been working with the sector leaders impacted by these shutdowns to find alternate work areas for the first two days of electrical work.
For Friday, May 24, all university campus facilities will be closed. Individuals will be able to work from home or take a PTO day. Please work directly with your supervisor regarding schedules and work arrangements during the shutdown schedule.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation as we work proactively to maintain our campus infrastructure.
