Volunteers needed for Veterans Day National Roll Call

In Announcements, by , on November 6th, 2014

The Veteran Services Office is looking for volunteers to read off names to honor our fallen.  We need 10 volunteers.   If interested, please contact Karl Hinterberger, assistant veteran coordinator, at 286-8323 or by email at khinterberger@niagara.edu.   Volunteers will be required to dress in business casual if formal is not possible.

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, Niagara University will participate in the National Roll Call and Moment of Silence.   The Veteran Services office will be honoring the 298 fallen soldiers of New York that were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.   There will be a check presentation from our Student Veteran Organization of $5,000 to Father Maher for the Command Sergeant Major Kirtchen Scholarship Fund.  This fund helps Veterans whose benefits does not cover 100 percent of the education cost here at Niagara University.

In attendance will be the Gold Star Mothers to help us honor the 60th anniversary of Veterans Day.   At 2 p.m., the university bells will chime to mark out participation in the National Moment of Silence.   They will chime a minute later to mark the end of the moment of silence.  Please be respectful and stop what you are doing to remember those who sacrificed everything for us.
