Ten NU Students To Present At International Chemistry Conference
When the 250th American Chemical Society National Meeting & Exposition gets underway in Boston next week, participation by Niagara University students in the international conference will reach its highest level ever.
Ten NU chemistry and biochemistry majors are set to display their scientific research findings during the poster presentation component of the esteemed conference, which is expected to attract approximately 17,000 chemists, chemical engineers, academicians, graduate and undergraduate students, and other related professionals.
Each of the Niagara University students will present individually on topics they are investigating under the guidance of NU faculty members. Several of the studies have potentially meaningful implications on the treatment of diseases. For example, rising junior Zachary Mariani is presenting on his work toward a new and much less expensive strategy to synthesize aurantioclavine as a way to treat leukemia cells. Jasmine Hinaman, Mariani’s classmate, will explain how she devised a solution that encapsulates curcumin and curcumin difluoride for delivery to cancer cells.
