“Patent or Intellectual Property Questions?” Join us tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Golisano for answers.
On Friday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m., in the Golisano conference room G254, patent attorney, Jordan Wallbesser from Hodgson Russ, will be on campus to speak with faculty on how to keep separate records of different inventions/research so ownership can clearly be established in the event something is patentable. At NU, faculty own their work (as opposed to the university), but collaborators such as students, fellow faculty, or other third parties could arguably be co-inventors (and thus co-owners) depending on the level and conditions of their involvements. Certain grants can also require joint ownership or even donation to the public. Jordan will discuss practical tips on this subject.
