A notice from career services

In Announcements, by , on July 14th, 2015

After extensive research and careful consideration, career services at Niagara University will no longer warehouse or forward the credential files (placement folders) of our graduates.  Credentials files have historically been used by education majors to forward letters of recommendation to school districts, and to a lesser degree by candidates applying to graduate or professional schools.

Over the past five years more efficient applicant tracking systems have eliminated the need for us to maintain hard copy files.  Job seekers and graduate school candidates are now expected to manage their own credentials either through the applicant tracking systems used by employers, or through web sites like Interfolio.com.

Any alumnus who has opened a credentials file and would like it returned to them (minus confidential letters) must inform career services by Aug. 1, 2015.  Confidential letters will not be returned.  File holders who have confidential letters of recommendation are encouraged to open an account with Interfolio.com, at www.interfolio.comInterfolio.com provides server space and a protocol for maintaining and distributing confidential material.  After Aug. 1, 2015, all remaining files will be destroyed.

For any questions regarding credentials files or Interfolio.com, please contact career services by phone at 716.286.8500 or by email at careers@niagara.edu.
