Accessible Information at NU Library

In Other, by , on August 3rd, 2021

NU Library is working to ensure a usable web experience, and equal access to information, for all of our users. This includes those who have special needs and those who speak English as a second language (ESL). Over the past few months, we have implemented the following features:

  • Almost all videos on the NU Library YouTube channel have closed captions that have been manually-edited to ensure accuracy.
  • The library website uses Alt text to describe images that contain information, which can be read out loud by screen reading software.
  • Our guide to Accessible Information at NU Library lists our databases and resources that have accessibility features such as text-to-speech, language translation, and video captions.
  • We have edited our Library website and Research Guides to meet accessibility standards for font sizes/colors, page structure, and more.
