Lisa Beaudoin, CMA, director of educational partnerships for the Institute of Management Accountants, presented an informational session on discussing the CMA designation and the importance of what it can mean to a career in business to Niagara University Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Society members on March 25, 2015.

The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is the advanced professional certification specifically designed to measure the accounting and financial management skills that drive business performance. More than 80 percent of accounting and finance professionals work inside organizations, building quality financial practices into the organization through decision support, planning, and control over the organization’s value-creating operations.

Accounting junior Justin Flynn appreciated the opportunity to learn about the options available for his field commenting, “I have always been focused on getting my CPA but after the IMA event, I really began considering my other options.
