The final event of the Niagara University October Speaker Series features Dr. Carole Talon Hugon, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Nice, France; President of the French Society of Aesthetics; and author of the four-volume A Personal and Philosophical History of Art and The Conflict of Heritage. Dr. Talon Hugon will give a talk entitled “Can Art Make Us Moral?”, where she will examine the basic questions of what defines beauty, and, is beauty universal?   Today, is anything and everything permitted to be designated as art?  Does art bear a social responsibility?  Should art strive to improve the human condition?  Ultimately, can art make us moral?  Refreshments will follow the lecture.
