China’s Contemporary Concentration Camps

Since 2016, China has placed over a million ethnic minorities in internment camps. Mostly Uyghurs and Kazaks, detainees are subjected to forced indoctrination of the official party line and forced labor. Mr. Omer Kanat, the president of World Uyghur Congress, in Washington, DC will speak at NU campus to address these modern day concentration camps. Mr. Kanat also serves as the Director of Uyghur Human Rights Project. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 16, at noon in MPR, LL Gallagher Center. It is organized by Muslim Student Alliance and sponsored by Office of Multicultural Affairs, Department of Political Science and History Department.
