Congratulations to Melissa Heidt, administrative assistant in the College of Business, and Wendy O’Malley, administrative assistant in the College of Hospitality and Tourism, on being awarded the Outstanding Employees of the Quarter for January and April!

Melissa began working at Niagara University in 2001, where she started as a secretary in the Accounting department. Over the years, she has held a few different positions within the College of Business before obtaining her current position in 2015. Dr. Todd Inouye, Assistant Professor in the College of Business, spoke about Melissa’s dedication to her job, stating: “The entire college depends on her, she always takes on additional duties when asked, and everyone here understands that she has been asked to do more with less. She has been more than reasonable in her planning and she clearly exemplifies a strong commitment to NU.” During Monday’s recognition, Dr. Frascatore added, “Melissa does whatever is asked of her and does it well – she takes pride in her work, she takes pride in the college, and she takes pride in the university. She’s most deserving of this award, and despite her preference to ‘fly under the radar,’ she really is a terrific role model for our faculty, staff, and also myself for her positive attitude and professionalism.”

For the upcoming April quarter, Wendy O’Malley is being recognized as the Outstanding Employee of the Quarter. She began as an office coordinator in the College of Education in 2008, holding a few different positions within the College, before joining the College of Hospitality and Tourism in 2014. Dr. Patrick Tutka, assistant professor in the College of Hospitality and Tourism, described Wendy as “a tireless worker who is the heart of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management. She is the go to source for any issue and always greets everyone with a smile on her face and a willingness to go way above and beyond. She works incredibly hard to do what is best for anyone in our department and what is best for the university.” In addition, Wendy has been recognized by numerous colleagues across campus for her commitment to her job and willingness to always help.

We are pleased to recognize Melissa and Wendy for their ongoing commitment to our university community and the Vincentian way of Niagara. Please join us in congratulating them as the Outstanding Employees of the Quarter!
