C&W Scheduling Changes
In an effort to increase efficiencies with Niagara’s custodial contractor C&W, and to continue our commitment to energy conservation, the campus community may experience scheduling enhancements with regard to cleaning services. Most of the planned changes will move previously third shift cleaning areas to a second shift which will begin at 3:00 pm.
In most situations, first shift cleaning areas will not change. Residence halls will continue to be cleaned during the day (first shift) as well as the library and Castellani Art Museum. Campus buildings that, due to usage, cannot be cleaned during the day or evening will continue to be serviced during the overnight (Dwyer, Kiernan, Gallagher). Office and classroom buildings will be cleaned between 3:00 and 11:30 pm.
Workers on the second shift (3:00 – 11:30 pm) will be trained to clean during office hours. There will be no intrusion upon occupied offices or classrooms for cleaning purposes, however, you may encounter C&W employees cleaning in these buildings during normal office hours. In most cases, the same cleaner will have responsibility for the same building Monday through Friday thereby forging relationships with the occupants of “their” building along with increasing accountability for and pride in that space.
The new schedule will go into effect on Monday, September 10. We are confident that this new scheduling will be better for everyone involved and we encourage your patience as this transition occurs. If you have any questions, please contact Kim Zukowski at extension 8439 or kjz@niagara.edu.
