Discussion Panel on the Sex Abuse Crisis and the Church’s Response

Niagara University’s Center for the Study and Practice of Religion and Office of Mission Integration will be co-sponsoring a discussion panel on the issue of sex abuse and the Catholic Church’s response on Thursday, May 2^nd from 6:30-8:00pm in DUNL 127. One of the primary motivations for the event is the overwhelming response by Niagara students to a survey on this issue conducted by the Center earlier this semester. There will be brief remarks from each panelist, followed by a question and answer session open to the audience. The panelists include:

Mr. Thomas Beecher: Attorney and leader in the Movement to Restore Trust (https://movementtorestoretrust.org/), an independent organization in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo seeking to enact reform and restore trust and confidence in the Church.
Dr. Dana Radatz: Assistant Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and expert on victimization
Reverend Aidan Rooney, C.M.: Vice President for Mission Integration at Niagara University
Dr. Craig Rivera: Associate Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Director of the Center for the Study and Practice of Religion

It will be a great opportunity ask questions, share your thoughts, and to engage in conversation about the crisis and pathways forward.
