Dr. Chad Mangum, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, presented some of his recent research at one of the premier international, interdisciplinary conferences for mathematics and physics. The 32nd International Colloquium on Group Theoretical Methods in Physics (Group32) was held in Prague, Czech Republic in July 2018 and featured some of the top researchers in these fields from around the world.

Dr. Mangum’s presentation was titled, “Fermionic Representations of Twisted Toroidal Lie Algebras.” The work gives a novel way of describing complex infinite-dimensional algebras which are mathematical generalizations of objects that physicists use to describe structures in quantum field theory and related topics. The work was partially supported by the Research Council’s Summer Research Award. Additionally, Dr. Mangum is scheduled to present related results at a regional conference at the University of Delaware in September 2018.
