Faculty Development Tip of the Week: Canvas Chat
Consider using Canvas Chat for online office hours. If you tell your students you’ll be online in your course’s Canvas Chat room, students can pop in and type their questions to you. You’ll be available to give real time answers, instead of going back and forth over email. The Canvas Chat transcript is saved for the duration of the semester, so other students in your course can check this transcript first to see if their question was already asked and answered. To add Chat to your Canvas course, click on Settings and then select the Navigation tab. Find Chat from the menu and enable it. Be sure to save your changes when you are finished.
