In Announcements, by , on March 4th, 2019

The next Faculty Research Colloquium will take place on Monday, March 4, at 12:30 in the Multipurpose room in Gallagher.

Dr. Kathleen McGrath and Dr. Mary Ellen Bardsley of the College of Education will summarize their recent work on literacy coaches (see abstract below).

The FRC showcases some of the great research being done here at NU. Each colloquium involves a 20-minute presentation geared for non-specialists followed by 10 minutes of Q & A. There is no paper to read ahead of time. A suitably intellectual beverage is provided.

Developing Literacy Leaders

How can participating in summer camp help literacy candidates develop as leaders? This study describes and analyzes a field experience that took place as part of Niagara University’s Primary Enrichment Program (PEP) Camp. The instructional context provided pre-service teacher candidates and advanced literacy specialist candidates with rich opportunities for professional collaboration. As well, literacy specialist candidates advanced their knowledge of professional leadership through the lens of a literacy coach.
