Faculty Research Colloquium
The first Faculty Research Colloquium of the academic year will take place next Wednesday, September 26, at 12:30 p.m. in Dunleavy 219.
The FRC showcases some of the great work being done at NU. Each colloquium involves a 20-minute presentation geared for non-specialists followed by 10 minutes of Q & A. There is no paper to read ahead of time. A suitably intellectual beverage is provided.

Domestic Violence Offender Treatment and Evidence-Based Programming
Abstract:
Evaluation results of domestic violence offender treatment programs, known as batterer intervention programs (BIPs), have been mixed, with the majority collectively indicating that BIPs are only marginally effective at reducing recidivism. Consequently, scholars and practitioners alike have called for BIPs to move towards evidence-based practices. One proposed suggestion has been to explore the integration of the principles of effective intervention, an evidence-based programmatic framework found in correctional programming, into BIPs. This presentation provides an overview of the proposed integration and what the future holds for domestic violence offender treatment.
