Gallagher Center Atrium Project

In Announcements, by , on August 8th, 2016

Please be advised that beginning Tuesday, Aug. 9, Facility Services will begin removing the planter within the Gallagher Center’s lobby entrance atrium on the second floor.

This work will require us to close off one set of stairs at a time to permit safe demolition. We will begin with closing off the west side (women’s restroom side). As we progress, we will open up one side and close off the other. We currently estimate this portion of work taking 2-3 days but cannot be certain as the structure of the planter is still unknown. We will cordon off the work area to continue to provide safe passage for the camps and building staff to access the restrooms.

Once the planter is removed in its entirety, we will set up temporary fencing with caution advisement to make all aware that the planter is gone and to direct all to stay away. The temporary protection will remain in place until the permanent glass wall is installed by the selected contractor during the week of Aug. 15.

Once the planter is down, Facility Services will continue to work on repairing drywall on the elevator shaft wall and completing the painting. C&W Services will also be cleaning the brown unpainted brick on both sides of the entry.

New flooring for the upper level lobby is scheduled to be installed during the week of Aug. 15 with the stair treads to follow. This installation will need to be coordinated with the other contractors as well as the schedule for railing replacement.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work to renovate this area.
