Harvard Divinity School Grad to Speak at NU on ‘Grace and Forgiveness in the Internet Age’
A Niagara University talk by Mark McInroy, Th.D., an up-and-coming scholar from the University of St. Thomas who earned two degrees from Harvard Divinity School, is being held in conjunction with the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
Dr. McInroy’s Oct. 17 address at NU is part of the Henry and Grace McNulty Lecture Series on Religion in the Modern World.
The title of Dr. McInroy’s talk, which will take place in the Castellani Art Museum at 5:15 p.m., is “Grace and Forgiveness in the Internet Age: The Significance of the Reformation for Catholics and Protestants Today.”
The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. McInroy is an assistant professor of systematic theology at the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, Minnesota). He earned a B.A. from Southwestern University and an M.Div. and Th.D. from Harvard Divinity School.
In 2015, Dr. McInroy was the recipient of the prestigious Manfred Lautenschläger Award for Theological Promise for his book, Balthasar on the Spiritual Senses: Perceiving Splendour. The international award, administered by Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, Germany, is presented to young scholars in recognition of outstanding doctoral or postdoctoral works.
The McNulty Lecture Series is devoted to questions of faith in the contemporary world, especially the topics of social justice and interreligious dialogue. The series was established by the late Rev. Thomas P. McGourty, C.M., a professor of religious studies at NU, in memory of his late aunt and uncle.
