Openings are available for campers to join the annual Kids ‘n Arts summer day camp during week 2 (Aug. 4 – 8). From 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, campers create their own artistic masterpieces and participate in theatre activities. Friday afternoons culminate in a theatre performance and art show for parents. This camp is for children ages 6-11. The cost is $175 per week, with a 10 percent discount for NU employees. For additional information and registration form, go to: http://www.castellaniartmuseum.org/education/kids-n-arts-camp/

The theme for week 2 is:
Say Cheese! Portraiture before Photoshop
Before the advent of photography, oil painting was used to capture the likeness of individuals. This week we will examine how artists used different techniques to emphasize different aspects of their subject. We will create our own series of portraits focusing on abstraction, naturalism and symbolism to show the personality, mood, and physical likeness of our subjects.
