Memorial Medical Center’s Café Receives NU-Guided Facelift

On Monday, Jan, 5, something pretty unique in the hospital industry happened at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center: the hospital – in partnership with Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management – opened its own restaurant. That means that the hospital built it, created the menu, and is managing the Tenth Street Café itself.

Niagara University will provide assistance such as staff mentoring and staffing. It will also help Memorial develop cutting-edge customer service. Another tie between the hospital and Niagara University is the manager/executive chef of the bistro: Lamont Singletary is a graduate of NU’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The aim of the restaurant is to provide food the likes of which will help patients, their visitors and members of the Niagara Falls community forget they are dining in a hospital.
