Middle States Commission Accreditation
NU’s eight-year reaccreditation process with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education is about to begin. This is an intensive, participative, self-study process that provides us with an opportunity to engage in an honest appraisal of ourselves: exploring our educational programs, services, and practices to determine how well we are meeting our own mission and goals as well as the standards set forth by Middle States. We are looking for involvement from across the university to collaborate on this critical reflective endeavor.
Who do we need?
- People who want to be involved and learn about the university
- Writers
- Planners
- Data nerds (qualitative and quantitative)
- Creative thinkers
- People who can make honest, objective assessments of the state of affairs
We know many faculty will be working on course reviews this fall for the new Gen Ed curriculum; however, the work of the Middle States group will not begin in earnest until the spring, so these two endeavors should not interfere with one another.
If you are interested in learning more about Middle States, our self-study process, and the different ways you can be involved, please attend one of our information sessions this week. They will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 12 – 1 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 7, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in Bisgrove 350/351. Also, please share this with anyone who you think would be a good fit and encourage them to attend as well. The more, the merrier! Please RSVP to Tara Tierney, ttierney@niagara.edu.
