New Conferencing Features in Canvas
We have upgraded the conferencing features in Canvas to a premium level service, which gives us the following new features:
Breakout Rooms
With breakout rooms instructors can give students their own sessions to collaborate (with time limits), monitor those sessions, and bring them back to the main room. Using breakout room’s increases collaboration among students and increases learning.
Video Playback (no more 14 day limit!)
Your classes get recorded as a single video file. The video captures everything in the meeting with the exception of the chat messages, which playback on the right-hand side.
Invite External Guests
Want to invite a guest lecturer into a session? Easy to do — every class has an invite link (visible only to instructors) where they can click to invite external users into the class. No need to create accounts in the LMS.
Dial-in numbers for every session
BigBlueButton offers built-in high-quality, low-latency audio. To reduce your support efforts, for any situation when an instructor can’t get their microphone to work, we provide dial-in numbers for every session. Instructors can simply call in and continue the class.
