New student convocation and welcome events

Our thirteenth annual New Student Convocation will take place on Friday, Aug. 28, at 2:30 p.m. in the upper level Gallagher Center. Please mark your calendar and join us in welcoming the Class of 2019.

All faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in the following social events. Your participation is essential for the success of these events and provides a great opportunity for bonding with the new students.

  1. Friday at 4:30 p.m. – the 5th Annual “WALK TO WHIRLPOOL STATE PARK.”   This event is planned to run into the early evening and includes a cookout, lawn games, and time for everyone to explore the park and the beautiful views of the Niagara Gorge. Wear something purple, a comfortable pair of shoes and join in on the fun. Participants are asked to meet in the front lawn of St. Vincent’s Hall at 4:15 p.m.
  2. Sunday at 7 p.m. – Mass will be celebrated in Alumni Chapel; all are welcome.
  3. Sunday from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. – Opening bonfire and fireworks celebration on Niagara turf field (behind Kiernan Center). Come join in this new Niagara tradition.  Enjoy the 10 foot bonfire, refreshments, music and friends as we officially start the school year. Fireworks begin at 10:30 p.m.

Any questions about this event or NSO can be directed to Mati Ortiz and Bill Newton in the Office of Campus Activities at 716.286.8510.

We look forward to getting the new students off to a great start, and I look forward to seeing you at these kick-off events to the new school year.
