Niagara University Junior Lands Internship with Olympic Broadcasting Services

In Announcements, by , on February 8th, 2018

Niagara University junior Nicole Schimmenti originally intended to spend a single semester studying abroad when she departed last February for Myongji University in Seoul, South Korea.

That changed when what Schimmenti described as “a once-in-a lifetime-opportunity that both my family and I believe I should not pass up” became available with Olympic Broadcasting Services.

Schimmenti’s internship thrusts her into the role of a video logger in the archives department of OBS. She’ll be tasked with logging statistical data during men’s and women’s ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. Specifically, she’ll be focused on metadata enrichment of specific assets for live events, which allows broadcasters to efficiently locate footage based on keywords, such as a player’s feat, name or country.
