Niagara University Presents Hospital Chaplain Panel Discussion
Niagara University’s Rose Bente Lee Ostapenko Center for Ethics in Medicine and Healthcare and the Center for the Study and Practice of Religion will be co-sponsoring a panel discussion of hospital chaplains on Tuesday, February 5th from 7:00pm to 8:15pm in St. Vincent’s Hall Room 407. A panel of four local clergy and religious who serve as hospital chaplains in Western New York will discuss their roles, as well as the challenges and rewards they face and the ethical dilemmas they have confronted. A question and answer session with the audience will follow. Niagara University students, employees, and members of the broader community are welcome and encouraged to attend. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
Panelists include Father James Bastian, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Ransomville, N.Y., and chaplain at the Buffalo VA Medical Center and at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station; Sister Judith Terrameo, chaplain at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, N.Y.; Pastor Vincent Eisaman, pastor of the United Baptist Christian Church in Lewiston, N.Y., and chaplain at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center; and Reverend Richard H. Augustyn, director of pastoral services at Buffalo General Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y., and the director of the St. Jude Center in Buffalo.
