Niagara University Ray Kist Golf Classic
The Niagara University Ray Kist Memorial Golf Classic, benefiting Niagara’s student-athletes, will be held on Monday, June 9, at the Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, N.Y.
The golf tournament honors the late Ray Kist, the head trainer at Niagara University for 16 years. He brought enthusiasm, energy and expertise to his profession, while caring for and treating student-athletes.
Inducted into the Niagara Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993, he battled ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) with an upbeat attitude, the same way he would counsel a student. The illness claimed his life at the age of 46 on January 31, 1995. With this tournament, Niagara University honors Ray, and the others like him, that serve the university and its student-athletes from behind the scenes.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and will follow with lunch sponsored by the world-famous Maid of the Mist. The 18-hole scramble format begins at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start, and participants will have a chance to purchase mulligans and leis throughout the day. Beverages on the course will be donated to participants through the generosity of Sodexho, Inc. A cocktail reception will follow the round of golf and dinner will be served before awards.
All funds raised through the Kist Memorial Golf Classic directly support Niagara’s student-athletes.
