NIAGARA UNIVERSITY REPERTORY THEATRE presents The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!)

In Announcements, by , on July 18th, 2022

Co- directed by Steve Braddock and Terri Vaughan, music directed by Ryan Henneberger, and choreographed by Vaughan, The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) (Aug 4-7) is a musical about, wait for it… yes, musicals! In this hilarious satire of musical theatre, one story becomes five delightful musicals, each written in the distinctive style of a different master of the form, from Rodgers & Hammerstein to Stephen Sondheim.

The basic plot: June is an ingenue who can’t pay the rent and is threatened by her evil landlord. Will the handsome leading man come to the rescue? The variations are: Rodgers & Hammerstein, Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Kander & Ebb.

This comic valentine to musical theatre premiered at the New York Theatre Company in New York City in 2003, and was the longest-running show in their 35-year history before moving off-Broadway.
