Niagara University to Assist Lewiston-Porter in Emergency Relocation Exercise: April 25-26

In Today's Events, by , on April 25th, 2016

Continuing Niagara University’s efforts as a community resource, the university is partnering with the Lewiston-Porter School District for its emergency relocation exercise. This exercise is a team effort, using members of emergency response teams from both institutions.

The exercise, which will take place April 25-26, will provide a staging area to relocated students should the Lew-Port school district have to evacuate students from their facilities while classes are in session. Staging students at Niagara University provides Lew-Port time to contact families, informing them that their child is safe and where to pick them up.

Please note the following restrictions and potential traffic congestion during the exercise period:

Tuesday April 26:

  • 700-plus middle and high school students will be staged in the upper level of the Gallagher Center.
  • There will be no building restrictions, but there will be bus congestion near the Gallagher Center from 9-9:30 a.m. and again from 10:30-11 a.m.
  • Buses will be parked in the Dwyer B lot.If you have questions about these exercises, please contact Chris Ferguson at ext. 8345 or clf@niagara.edu.
  • Thank you for your patience as we assist one of Niagara’s key community partners with this important initiative.
