NU WOMEN’S STUDIES PROGRAM WRITING CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The winners of the annual Niagara University Women’s Studies Program Writing Contest have been revealed! First-year student Jillian Hagerty, a psychology major, won for her paper, “The Artwork of Hans Baldung Grien: Symbolism and 16-Century Misogynistic Beliefs.” Two upper-class students shared the honor: Senior psychology major Lauren Mencobello, won first place for her paper, “The New Normal: Sexual Violence against Women,” and Ellen Rajnisz, a junior in political science, whose paper is entitled “Power Imbalance: Examining Ramifications of Historical Constitutional Patriarchy,” won the runner-up award. They will be presented with their awards in an online awards ceremony on Wednesday, March 10, from 6:00-7:15 pm. Those interested in attending this free event may contact Dr. Shannon Risk to register.
