The Ostapenko Center for Ethics in Medicine and Healthcare and the Center for the Study and Practice of Religion at Niagara will be co-sponsoring a virtual event entitled, “Religion and the Coronavirus Pandemic: A Panel Discussion,” on November 12th from 7:00-8:00pm. The coronavirus pandemic has affected nearly every aspect of society, and religious life is no exception. The pandemic raises a number of ethical questions. What role does one’s faith play in responding to those in need in the midst of the pandemic? What are the complexities involved in deciding whether or not to close or open places of worship? How can religious leaders tend to the spiritual and physical needs of their parishioners?

To discuss these and other questions, three members of the Niagara University community will participate in a panel discussion, with each participant offering some prepared remarks followed by an interactive question and answer period. The panelists include Mr. Howard Morgan,

Associate Director of Alumni Engagement and Stewardship and Deacon in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, NY; Rev. Dr. Daniel Pinti, Professor of English and Episcopal priest; and Rev. Aiden Rooney, CM, Vice President for Mission Integration.
