Panel on the Opioid Crisis Thursday Night-April 25

In Announcements, by , on April 24th, 2019

The National Institute of Drug Abuse reports that more than 130 people in the United States die every day as a result of an opioid overdose. Considered now a national crisis, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the misuse of prescription opioids alone in the U.S. costs the country almost $80 billion dollars annually including healthcare costs, criminal justice costs, addictions treatment, and lost work productivity. Please join our Criminal Justice Association for a screening of the short Neflix Documentary Heroin(e) to be followed by a panel discussion with representatives from treatment, prevention, law enforcement and EMS.  The event will run from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and will be held in Dunleavy Hall, Room 127.  Light refreshments will be served.  A flier for the event is attached.
