Papal visit to U.S. will be commemorated on campus: Thursday event
This week, Pope Francis will make his first apostolic visit to the United States. The theme of his visit is “Love is our Mission.” The Office of Campus Ministry will be commemorating the visit by offering a number of community events throughout the week, in conjunction with our annual Vincentian Heritage Week celebrations. Please join as a community in prayer and service to mark these very special days combining the celebration of our Catholic and Vincentian heritage.
Thursday, Sept. 24:
9:20 a.m., Pope Francis address the United States Congress. Watch the event online (http://www.usccb.org/about/leadership/holy-see/francis/papal-visit-2015/papal-visit-2015-live-stream.cfm) or gather at the TV outside of campus ministry in the Gallagher Center.
Friday, Sept. 25:
7:30 a.m., NU pilgrims depart Gallagher Center for Philadelphia to attend the Festival of Families and Papal Mass on Benjamin Franklin Parkway over the weekend.
12:20 p.m., community-wide Mass for Vincentian Heritage Week, followed by afternoon service opportunities on campus to celebrate our Catholic and Vincentian identity and the call of Pope Francis to be people of mission.
Each day, a prayer will be posted on campus ministry social media sites for the apostolic visit and the intentions of the Holy Father. Please join us in prayerfully engaging in these historic days.
