Participate in World Labyrinth Day: Saturday, May 6

In Our Caring Community, by , on April 24th, 2023

Members of the Niagara University community and the public will have an opportunity to participate in World Labyrinth Day on Saturday, May 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. This annual international event is a moving meditation for peace.

There will be an indoor labyrinth set up in the Multipurpose Room on the Lower Level of Gallagher Center. The walk will be facilitated by Mitchell Alegre, a certified labyrinth facilitator.

Participants around the world will “Walk as One at 1” by walking a labyrinth at 1 p.m. local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy passing from one time zone to the next around the globe.

Labyrinth walkers may also choose to participate in the third annual Big Connection research project, the first global humanity research experiment utilizing the labyrinth. Labyrinth Activism is a term that has emerged from prior studies in 2021 and 2022. This year, the researchers are further exploring the process of labyrinth activism, how to initiate it, and asking participants to record their experiences. More information can be found at worldlabyrinthday.org or legacylabyrinthproject.org. The Niagara University Labyrinth Walk is being hosted by Niagara University’s Center for Mindful Practice, Center for the Study and Practice of Religion, and Campus Ministry in collaboration with The Mindfulness Alliance.
