“Rethinking Poverty and Inequality:” Monday, Nov. 16

The Levesque Institute, in conjunction with the department of social work and the University Mission committee, is proud to present a lecture by Dr. Harlan Beckley entitled “Rethinking Poverty and Inequality: A Call to Action for Higher Education,” on Monday, Nov. 16 at 4:30 p.m. The talk will take place in the 4th floor amphitheater of St. Vincent’s Hall (Room 407).  Dr. Beckley is the founder and executive director of the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty.  He is also Fletcher Otey Thomas Professor of Religion, Emeritus, at Washington and Lee University (Lexington, VA).   Dr. Beckley received a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of Illinois and a Doctorate in Christian theological ethics from Vanderbilt University.  This presentation is open to the entire campus community.  Please encourage your students to attend this event.  Light snacks and refreshments will be served.  Questions about the event can be directed to Dr. Taylor at dtaylor@niagara.edu or 205.0078.
