Student Employment

In Announcements, by , on February 27th, 2023

Student employment plays an important role in the day to day operations of the university. Niagara University hires a few hundred students annually into student temp roles (non work- study positions). In order to protect the students and the university from a liability perspective, it is imperative we follow the appropriate hiring process BEFORE we allow students to work on campus. The process is as follows:

1. Notify Tina Johnston in the Career Center the name of the student you are hiring. Tina can be contacted at (716)286-8530 or tmj@niagara.edu
2. Complete a student temp hiring form and send it to the Controller’s office (attached)
3. If a student has never worked on campus before, the student will need to visit the Career Center in Academic Complex 125 and complete a new hire packet and furnish required ID for the federal I-9.
4. Departments must wait for approval from Tina Johnston that a student can start working
5. Onboard the student

Please DO NOT allow a student to work until you have received confirmation that all the required paperwork is complete.

If you have any questions, please contact Tina Johnston in the Career Center at tmj@niagara.edu or 716.286.8530.
