‘The Nest’ Represents Trust Between NU Administrators, Students

Niagara University students are flocking to The Nest.

The new on-campus food-service venue that offers alcoholic beverages and a great place to unwind with friends debuted Feb. 19 to more than 125 students. Located in Dwyer Arena’s Premium Suite, The Nest is the result of a close working relationship between university administrators and the Niagara University Student Government Association.

Dr. Kevin Hearn, vice president for enrollment management and student affairs, was one of the many NU administrators on board with presenting students an alternative to off-campus drinking.

“During Summer Orientation, I speak of the problems associated with alcohol use and abuse on a college campus,” Dr. Hearn said. “Therefore, some might say advocating or creating such a campus venue like this discredits such statements or stances on alcohol. I contend that we have both the opportunity and responsibility to do better than pushing students off campus for such experiences.”
