The Vincentian Center for Justice hosting Kairos Blanket Exercise on April 13
The Vincentian Center for Justice is proud to host a Kairos Blanket Exercise on Thursday, April 13, from 1-4 p.m. All are invited; registration is required.
Led by Nekanęhsakt: Friends of Ękwehęwę and hosted by Niagara University’s Indigenous Peoples Club and the Justice House program, this event is based on using Indigenous methodologies and the goal is to build understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. It is an experiential learning tool that leads a group of participants through 500+ years of Indigenous history that highlights Indigenous relationships with European explorers, colonial settlers, and the U.S. federal and state governments.
Who should attend? Anyone interested in using participatory education and discussion to raise awareness of the historic relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in the part of the world now known as North America.
Why is this training important? Native American/Indigenous leaders say that much of the strife in the world is happening today because people have forgotten their original instructions and are not acting with good minds and relationships to other humans and the world around them. Learning about our history enables us to remember the mistakes we have made so we are not doomed to repeat them.
