Students Erika Ruggieri and Marissa Seib have won prizes for their work in the annual Susan B. Anthony Writing Contest held at Niagara University. Ruggieri, a biology major, is a first-year student, whose winning paper is titled “Equal Pay, Any Day.” Her paper was written for Professor Lynn Bey’s Thinking and Writing 100 class. Seib, a junior history major, wrote “The Madness Behind the Bly-lines,” about newspaper stunt reporter Nellie Bly. Seib’s paper was written for HIS 200—Sophomore Research Methods, taught by Professor Shannon Risk. Both students will be honored for their achievement on Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in St. Vincent’s Hall, Room 407. The event is free and open to the public, and there will be a birthday cake to honor Susan B. Anthony, a Rochester native, who fought for women to have the right to vote.
