University Celebration – May 9

In Upcoming Events, by , on May 3rd, 2017

Dear Niagara University Community,

It is truly amazing each year around this time to see the almost immediate transformation of the university campus, both physically and emotionally. Winter’s cold and gray days have given way to warmth and vibrant colors, and the energy and excitement of the NU community is evident in every area of the campus. It is truly a wonderful time to be at Niagara University.

Over the next few weeks, through the voluntary separation opportunity, a number of people have opted to separate from Niagara. However, before we shift our collective focus to commencement exercises, I want to take a moment to thank these individuals for their service and dedication to Niagara University, our students and our community. In discussions with students and alumni, it is clear that our caring community is a key attribute of Niagara University. This high praise for Niagara is because of the people who have chosen to work and serve at the university in every department across campus.

To celebrate the dedication of these individuals and thank them for their service, we have planned a university-wide celebration on May 9 at 3:00 p.m. in the Dining Commons. At this gathering we will also recognize faculty members who are retiring – it will be our End of the Year celebration.

Finally, I also would like to assure you that sector leaders are developing transition plans to address our personnel changes. Departments, offices and sectors will be kept informed as we navigate through these changes together. The Niagara University community will continue to serve its mission of educating students and enriching their lives through programs and career preparation, informed by the Catholic and Vincentian traditions. We do so at a time of great pride and strength – in seeing and knowing the success of our students as they graduate and move forward in their careers or advanced study.

I look forward to seeing you on May 9 at 3 p.m.

With every good wish,
James J. Maher, C.M.
