Upcoming service opportunity: Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22 and 23
If you’re looking for a chance to donate your time and talents to a project that has a global impact then stop by the Kiernan Center to volunteer for Sandal Falls: A BOLD Project. Sandal Falls is a student-led initiative through Niagara University’s BOLD club that collects sandals which are worn by tourists who go to the Cave of the Winds attraction at the Falls. Volunteers for the project help with the sorting, sanitizing, pairing and bagging of the sandals, which are then sent throughout the world to areas in need of foot wear. Please visit our website to learn more about the project and where we have sent the sandals: http://levesqueinstitute.niagara.edu/about/sandal-falls-project/.
This month, the Sandal Falls project will be a NUCAP event. The event will be held in the Kiernan center front gym on the following days and times:
Friday, Jan. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and again from 6 to 9 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to stop by Kiernan anytime during those days and times to give the sandals a little TLC. If you’d like to sign up in advance, please visit the NUCAP events page here: http://www.niagara.edu/nucap-events/ and click “register for an event” at the bottom of the page, or just stop by when you have some time.
We can also use assistance picking the sandals up on Thursday afternoon and dropping them off Saturday evening. Please contact Brittany DePietro at bdepietro@niagara.edu for details if you are able to help with this. Anyone interested in the Sandal Falls project who has questions can contact Brittany DePietro or Jackie Freeman at jmf@niagara.edu about this opportunity.
