For those who plan to voluntarily use Canvas this semester:

Setting the course to show up on your Dashboard

If your spring course is not showing up on your Dashboard, click Courses on the purple Global Navigation menu. Click All Courses. Click the star next to the name of each new course you want to show up on the Dashboard (to add color to it) and click any colored stars to remove the color so those course will not show up on your Dashboard. If you do not have a course shell of a new course, you will have to submit an IT Service Request. From My NU click on Systems in the upper right corner. In the dropdown menu click on IT Service Request. Fill out the ticket being detailed about the course(s) for which you should have course shells in Canvas.

Getting Spring course materials migrated from Blackboard

You will need to submit an IT Service Request. From My NU click on Systems in the upper right corner. In the dropdown menu click on IT Service Request. Fill out the ticket being detailed about the course(s) you want migrated from Blackboard to Canvas.

Moving course materials from Fall 2016 to Spring 2017 in Canvas

It is very easy to import content from one Canvas course into another. From Settings in the Course Navigation menu for the course into which you want to bring in the content, click the Import Content into this Course button on the right side. Under the Content Type dropdown menu click on Copy a Canvas Course. Enter the course name where the content was last semester. Click All content. Next to Options, check the Adjust events and due dates. Put in last year’s start and end dates and this semester’s start and end date. Click Import and let it do the work for you.
